This edition presents the complete, authentic collection of love letters between King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.
Boleyn was Henry's second wife, gaining his favour after the his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, failed to provide him with the male heir he dearly craved. The letter reproduced in this book are somewhat provocative in understanding Henry VIII's thoughts, feelings, and plans regarding Anne Boleyn. They're not copy-written, and I understand that these have been declared historical documents, but it's easy to let cynicism creep in. I purchased the hardback version, which I always do, if available. (I'm an old-fashioned reader that likes to touch my pages, feel the spine, and preserve them in my personal library. Unfortunately, the pages have very little copy upon them. "Tricked" may be too harsh a word, but I do feel slightly misled. It seems tha I paid 95% for the binding, and 5% for the content.Product details

Considering the nature of the letters and situation surrounding them, peeking back in time is truly possible with this compilation of letters. After watching the Tudors on Netflix I was in love and heartbroken at Anne Boleyn--her death a travesty created by her family. A must read for ANY fan of the 16th century and love.
I bought this to use as a resource for a class that I am teaching but ended up swapping it away on PaperBackSwap.com. It's of the quality of Dover Thrift Editions--only worse. No notes and little detail provided. I would have been embarrassed to distribute any copies of letters in this book to my students.
This collection is an absolute must for anyone interested in the history of Tudor England. During Henry VIII's long courtship of Anne Boleyn, who refused all entreaties to become the King's mistress, Henry wrote several long, impassioned, poetic and sometimes desperate letters to the woman many believe was the grand passion of his life.
Although the passion sputtered out and died - as did Anne - the letters remain.
I love history and know much about Henry VIII, but it didn't meet my expectations.
These are the actual love letters Henry sent to Anne during their lengthy and tumultuous courtship. None of Anne's replies to him survived as everything possible of hers was destroyed after her fall from favor and her death, but Henry's besotted missives tell the well-known tale of an infatuation that changed history. Recommended only for those who already have an interest in the Tudor/Boleyn relationship.
Love Letter of Henry VIII to Anne Boleyn is a short collection of letters found. They have been transcribed and put in order according to the most plausible time-line. This is decribed at the conclusion of the letters. This is a great read and addition to a library for an Tudor enthusiast. They are not overly descriptive or seductive by any means, but they show Henry's true concern for her health during the time of the sweating sickness, and his interest in making her his mistress and then ultimately his wife. Once letter is included that Anne Boleyn writes to Cardinal Wolsey seeking interest in the decision made on the king's matter. The kindle addition is very cheap; however, once I purchased it I saw there was a second kindle version that was only .99, so search a bit and find that one obviously. )
I was expecting the letters between the king and Boleyn- which is what the book contained- about fifteen pages - very little analysis and/ or context to the Tudor period - disappointing! I’m fairly well read on War of Roses and Tudor History, so expected much more from these little letters!
